Welcome, I'm so glad you stopped by!
I'm Victoria, of Crochet Sunnshyne
My crochet story didn’t begin until about eleven years ago; I was already a knitter, but found myself intrigued by crochet.
A dear friend of mine taught me how to crochet, she had learned as a child from her grandmother. She taught me how to double crochet and how to make a wash cloth and by crocheting in the back loop you get more scrubbing texture. Armed with my new knowledge and a desire for more, I went to the internet where I landed on YouTube and found Clare from BobWilson123.org. I learned so much from her and her videos. I remember I was so excited when I completed a blanket pattern she designed, I shared a picture of it with her. Clare loved it so much she asked if she could use it for her pattern. Of course I said yes, I was really proud of that accomplishment!
Blankets are what I seem to crochet most, I enjoy making them, especially if it’s a baby blanket to gift, but truly enjoy it all. I have made so many things, including, but not limited to, scarves, blankets, hats, slippers, baby booties, sweaters, cardigans, bunting, mittens, cowls, table runners, flowers galore, coasters, granny squares, and a nativity set.
I love crocheting and share it as often as I can. My favorite is hanging out with my friends, while we coffee & crochet, but I equally enjoy teaching this fantastic fiber art. ts, a crochet group, and teaching. I’ve taught many friends, and began teaching publicly in group classes last summer. I needed to be certified for the location I was teaching at so I enrolled in Craft Yarn Council’s Certified Instructor program. After about five months of working and reworking swatches perfecting my skills, I earned my Certified Crochet Instructor’s certificate. I learned so much about crochet and myself. You don’t need to be inspired to teach to participate in this program. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to learn more about the art of Crochet or Knit, they have both!
While I was working through my certification I decided it was time to write down all the patterns brewing in my mind. So now, I’m a designer, which frankly is a bit strange to hear coming out of my mouth, though it is exciting. Maybe one day I will open my own local yarn shop where I can share yarn, crochet, and coffee every day! For now, I will write, publish, make, teach, and generally just spread sunnshyne through the art of crochet!
Thanks for stopping by!
